Our focus for children is in developing Discipline and Respect. We do this, of course, through rigorous and traditional Taekwondo training. Self Defense techniques that the children learn include kicking, punching, grappling, and weapons training.
SMTA does not provide lunch. Lunch must be provided by the parents. While we eat, we usually watch a martial arts related movie such as Karate Kid or Kung Fu Panda.
The kids may be having fun but our focus is, as always, on discipline and safety. Game time includes structured activates that the kids enjoy which improve martial arts skills such a dexterity and coordination.
We are planning a tentative field trip to the Sunrise Civic Center's pool on Friday, March 24 (the last day of Spring Break). The Sunrise Pool is excellent at safety and supervision. Additionally, they make all students do a swimming test before being allowed to swim freely. All students who do not pass the test are issued a life-vest and kept in the shallow end. They also have a super fun slide that the children love! The pool is right next door to the school so it's a short and safe drive! Safety is our number one concern!
